The Mix-Up: Superbowl Weekend

Best Superbowl Commercials…

Whether you’re a football fan or not, you most likely watched the commercials or have at least heard the buzz around them. Our top 5 picks for best ads of Superbowl XLVI go to (in no particular order):

1. Audi’s Vampire Party

2. Sketcher’s Mr. Quiggly Moon Walk

3. Tax Act Kid Peeing in Pool

4. Dorito’s Baby Sling

5. Coke’s Polar Bear Catch

Nice to see commercials that are intelligent and not purely trashy humor. Touche to clever ads!

At Halftime…

Madonna rocked the halftime show, debuting her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin,” proving she still has what it takes to give a flashy, entertaining performance. But she didn’t leave out her classics like “Vogue” and “Like A Prayer” either, giving us all something familiar to sing along to. Madonna got back-up help from M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj, giving the performance some youth and flare. What did you guys think about the cheerleader, Roman-themed show? Does Madonna still have it or should it have been Lady Gaga up there?

Def. No Nipple, But A Finger Flash…

Rapper M.I.A. really got into the performance at halftime, flipping off the camera while singing with Madonna. Both NBC and the NFL have apologized for the finger faux pas, claiming, “Our system was late to obscure the inappropriate gesture and we apologize to our viewers.”

Whoops.

Another Accident: Snooki Urinates on the Dance Floor…

After one too many shots of tequila, Jersey Shore’s Snooki peed herself while dancing at Karma. Oh Snook, couldn’t you hold it? Apparently everyone was dancing when she stopped and announced that she had an accident and proceeded to run to the bathroom whereupon she splashed herself with sink water and sprayed perfume on her underwear. Way to clean up girl.

At the Box Office…

Teens with super powers took number one this weekend in the film Chronicle, bringing in $22 million. Check out the trailer below:

Number 2, a close runner up, went to The Woman in Black, Daniel Radcliffe’s first film since his Harry Potter days. Can he distance himself from Harry or can we only picture him in a cloak with wand at hand? You decide:

Liam Neeson in The Grey is hanging on to third at the box office with a distant $9.5 million.

Happy Monday!
