FilmFunds and the Weinstein Company were lucky enough to sponsor The Artist’s after party at the Mondrian Hotel on Sunset Blvd last night….So that means we got up close and personal with everyone involved in the hottest film of the night. Here’s how it went down:
The viewing party, where everyone eats, drinks and schmoozes while watching theOscars on HD screens stationed throughout the outdoor venue, kicked off the night at 5 p.m. with star arrivals. Then it was time for the big show to begin and you could feel the excitement in the air when Mark Bridges took home the first Oscar for The Artistfor Costume Design.
We caught up with Mark later that night and he told us exactly what was going through his head as he accepted the golden statue…
There was a sense of family and nostalgia at the Mondrian that night, like we were all witnessing Oscar history, this is the first silent film to win since 1929! Best Actor winner,Jean Dujardin’s wife and kids were there rooting for him. Did you know Dujardin said, “What the f***, thank you!” at the end of his acceptance speech? The Frenchman sitting next to me translated that one.
After the show was over and The Artist racked up 3 more awards for Original Score,Directing, and Best Picture it was time to wait for the stars to transport over from the Kodak down the street and make their way to the party. And slowly but surely they came! Our favorite star of the night was:
Hey look over here Uggie! Uggie was busy all night doing interviews and performing for the camera…did you know he is an award winning dog? He won the Palm Dog, the informal equivalent to the Palme d’Or in Cannes last year for his role in The Artist!
Then Georgina Chapman, actress and wife of Harvey Weinstein, snagged a hug from the talented pup.
Speaking of the Weinstein himself, we got one word from Harvey, who is a busy man…
That’s Thomas Langmann (below), producer of The Artist who was all smiles last night.
Just as we thought the party was over, it just began with Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo making fashionably late appearances at the Mondrian…strolling in roughly around midnight to get the party started!
What a night! Can’t wait to see what next year brings and what behind the scenes fun we can bring home to you!
