Gina Carano kicked some serious butt in Haywire. Now she’s preparing to get tough in Fast & Furious 6.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Carano is in negotiations to join Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson in the next installment of Universal’s ultrasuccessful franchise.
Carano, a former MMA athlete, proved in Haywire that she’s an action star. In the Relativity movie, which director Steven Soderbergh designed as a starring vehicle for Carano, the first-time actress held her own onscreen with co-stars Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Ewan McGregor, and Michael Douglas.
Universal is carefully cultivating the film, bringing back Justin Lin, who directed three of the Fast movies, to direct and Chris Morgan, who wrote three of them, to write.
Bringing on Carano (who’s just plain fun to watch) shows that Universal is intent on keeping the franchise fresh, while remaining true to its roots.
