Veteran sci-fi action writers Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci (their credits include “Star Trek,” “Mission: Impossible III,” two “Transformers” movies, “Alias, and “Fringe”), have been hired to rewrite the sequel to The Amazing Spider-man, according to Deadline.
The first installment in the franchise reboot hits theaters on July 3. And we can’t wait. Andrew Garfield saving the day and falling in love with Emma Stone? Yes, please. Plus, we’re excited to see how Marc Webb handles the huge superhero flick; the only other feature he’s directed is “500 Days of Summer,” and while that absolutely falls into favorite movie category, it’s not exactly the same fare as Spidey.
It’s clear that Sony has high hopes for this reboot, though. Kurtzman & Orci are total go-tos for big studio fare and their franchise takes tend to bring in huge numbers. So while we don’t want to have unrealistic expectations of Spider-man’s box office staying power, it’s like they say – you can’t always get what you want.
