Rooney Mara’s star just keeps rising. The actress, who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance as Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” is in final negotiations to join the cast of Spike Jonze’s upcoming untitled project, reports Variety. Carey Mulligan was originally slated for the role, but she dropped out to due to scheduling conflicts. Mara isn’t a far cry from Mulligan, once you think about it. Though she has a little more edge, both have a way of fully embodying their characters and becoming bigger than their tiny, brunette frames. Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, and Samantha Morton also star in the project.
If you’re craving more Nicholas Sparks after seeing “The Lucky One” this weekend, have no fear. The next Sparks adaptation is pushing forward, casting Josh Duhamel as the lead (per Variety). He’ll play a widower who begins a relationship with a mysterious young woman. The film comes out on Feb 8, 2013, just before Valentine’s Day (shocker).
Alexander Skarsgard found himself a castmate in the form of Andrea Riseborough for his upcoming flick “Hidden.” THR reports that Riseborough, who was last seen in Madonna’s W.E., will star as Skarsgard’s wife in the horror-thriller about a family hiding in a bomb shelter to escape a mysterious outbreak. The plot doesn’t seem to be anything new, but we’ll hold out further judgement til we see a trailer. The film shoots this year.
