Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest Will Host The Olympics
What is Ryan Seacrest’s next item on his to-do list? Probably take over the world. That is most likely going to take some time, but for now he is going to settle for helping host the Summer Olympics for NBC. Ryan made that announcement Wednesday on the Today show, where he also took some time to clarify rumors to Matt Lauer about taking over the morning show. Seacrest told Lauer about taking over Today, “I don’t know. I see you doing this for as long as you want to.” Lauer added that Seacrest “would be great at this job… There is no tension here.” Ryan also mentioned that he will continue as host of American Idol, but his contract does expire at the end of this season.

Katy Perry: Part of Me

Katy Perry: Part Of Me Trailer
We all want to be “part of” Katy Perry! Or maybe that is just me imagining myself in a Candy Land-like world with bright colored wigs and whipped cream everywhere. The good thing is that we will have the opportunity to be part of this world in Katy Perry’s Part of Me concert movie in 3D. You can see the trailer here…

The Mix-Up: The “odds” are with “The Hunger Games,” “Smash” Gets Renewed and more…

The Hunger Games

The “odds” are with The Hunger Games
The much anticipated adaptation of the Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy The Hunger Games earned $68.3 on it’s opening day. Already breaking records for the midnight screenings, the Gary Ross directed film is already the highest opening for a non-sequel and the highest debut single day for a non-sequel. If this is a prediction of what is to come, as people get more involved with these characters the next book adaptations should break even more records.

American Horror Story

American Horror Story Increases Its Odds
A television show that wants to increase its odds of winning an Emmy is American Horror Story. Using its anthology status the Academy advised the network that the show was eligible to run in the drama series or miniseries category. The drama-series category is already crowded with front-runners like Downton Abbey and Breaking-In, the mini-series category would feature much less known players. FX is trying to take the golden statue and secure a win as the series features a rotating cast each season with different story lines, much like a mini-series.

Smash

Smash Gets Renewed For A Second Season
Critically-Acclaimed show Smash has earned a second season on NBC. The behind-the-scenes of the making of a Broadway-musical show has created a lot of buzz which has not translated into the ratings hit that NBC was expecting. The show has stabilized itself after a slight audience week-to-week gain. The network felt that Smash deserved a second season. Also worth mentioning is that although Smash is not that ratings bonanza the peacock network was expecting it has increased its ratings in its time slot as compared to a year ago.

Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie Talks Leg
Everyone remember how ridiculous Angelina Jolie looked last month at the Oscars posing in her Versace dress? The actress says, “I honestly didn’t pay attention to it. You know what I mean? I don’t watch those TV shows and if I go online and see something about myself, I don’t click on it,” Angelina told The Huffington Post.

Ms. Jolie also told the Post, “And the people I surround myself with don’t really talk about that kind of stuff,” she added with a laugh. “I heard something, but I didn’t pay any attention. It’s as simple as a being a woman picking a dress you like and having a night, and not really thinking about anything else.”

The Mix-Up: New Twilight Trailer, Elle Fanning in “Maleficent,” and more…

Twilight

Twilight Trailer
If you are a Twilight fan, you might want to consider watching The Hunger Games and volunteering yourself as tribute. The trailer for Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is going to show right before the feature starring Jennifer Lawrence. That’s one more reason to go watch The Hunger Games or one more reason to go to one of those fancy theatres with assigned seating so you can skip the trailers and get to the main feature, depending on what team you are in.

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning In Sleeping Beauty
It has been reported that Elle Fanning is in talks to be Sleeping Beauty in the live-action adaptation titled Maleficent. Set to star as the Evil Queen is Angelina Jolie. Can you imagine that man-hungry, blood-wearing woman up against poor, little, innocent Elle? This will be a fight worth watching!

Moonrise Kingdom

Moonrise Kingdom Poster Revealed
Today, Wes Andersons’ Moonrise Kingdom poster was revealed. The story is about a boy and a girl who fall in love and run away together causing the whole town to search for them. The poster reminds me of one of those old cheap paper back books that were published back in the day. Maybe that is what they were going for as the movie takes place in the 60s. The movie is set to be released on May 16, starring Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman and Bob Balaban.

Community

Community Returns
The struggling comedy, Community, is back on NBC after a very long break. The series has not been able to gain a big following placing it on the border of cancellation season after season. Community has gained a cult following and it is one of the most critically acclaimed shows. The Soup released a really funny trailer for the new season making it seem like they are promoting a movie. Take a look at it and make sure to watch it LIVE starting March 15 at 8pm on NBC…

The Mix-Up: Skins Gets Canceled, Keri Russel Joins “The Americans” and more…

Skins Series 6

Skins gets canceled
If you were a fan of Skins UK, make sure to enjoy the last couple episodes because Channel 4 has just announced that it will not commission a new series after this one wraps up. Ratings are what pushed the executives to pull the plug on the show as it has lost more than half of its audience from the previous season. Season 6 of Skins currently airs in America through Hulu, a couple weeks behind the UK air date. There are plans to produce 3 specials next year to wrap up the series, but they also said they were planning a movie and we’re still waiting on that. Let’s not hold our breath until we actually see things happening.

Keri Russell

Keri Russell joins “The Americans”
Today FX announced that it has signed Keri Russell to star in their period spy drama The Americans. The show is set during the 1980s in Washington D.C. during the Cold War era. It focuses on two KGB spies posing as Americans in the suburbs. The FX original is in its pilot stage; If it gets ordered to series, this would be Keri Russell’s comeback to television since that awful comedy Running Wilde on Fox last year.

Figure It Out: Lori Beth Denberg

Nickelodeon “Figures It Out”
The slime network has seem to finally take notice that the old shows were better. Nickelodeon is going back to their glory days and relaunch Figure It Out, a popular game show that showcased kids and their weird talents. The basis of the show was to have a group of celebrities “figure out” what talent the kids had giving them three clues in three different rounds. During each round if they stumped the panel, they would win a prize. The first-round prize always had a piece of Nickelodeon memorabilia from the different Nick shows they produced. For all the kids that grew up in the 90s, this show will definitely bring back some fond memories, because “The 90s were really All That.”

Smash on NBC

Smash becoming a “Smash”
After a great premiere due to heavy promotion during the Super Bowl, Smash, obviously, declined in ratings. We all thought it was going downhill from there and that this show was doomed. Fortunately, the show has been getting a lot of buzz from people watching it and a great lead-in from The Voice, that it has rebounded and a ratings reversal trend has given it hope. NBC has struggled to score a hit show and placed a lot of hope on Smash. Let’s hope it does become a real “smash” and have it come to Broadway. Can you imagine actually producing a Marilyn musical based on the TV show? That would be AH-MAH-ZING! Now we can go on loving to hate the show and being annoyed by the gay non-gay assistant.
